| PLEASING CHANGE OF INQUIRY
METHODS
A SENSATION
New York, Yesterday,
A great change in the methods of the "Vestris" enquiry has been. noticeable since the outery in the British Press, and this is largely ascribed by the "New York World" to the introduction of Captain McConkey and Captain Jessop...
Captain McConkey especially is acting as a sort of interpreter, pre-j venting the British witnesses from misunderstanding Attorney Tattle's American accent and idiom.
Tuttle' himself denied to Reuter that he was in any way netuated by anti-British motives or that he had any axe to grind. "I am only concerned to arrive at the truth of the sad tragedy,” he said.
Another Inquiry
New York, Yesterday.
A sensation was caused at the
inquiry by the Department of Com
merce.
At to-day's session Chief En- gireer Adams attributed the loss of the "Vestris" to the negro fire- |men deserting their posts, thus confirming the three engineers' story previously cabled, and con- tradicting the evidence at the Federal Inquiry by the fremen mentioned.
An atidavit has been submitted to the. Federal Inquiry, signed by one of the British aurvivors pay- ing a tribute to Capt. Carey's un-i remitting and heroic efforts among | the disorganised crew
and fear stricken passengers." Reuter's American Service.

W. Gunn, Dr. W. Davidson, Mrs. THE BULBOUS BOW
(Continyed from Page 4.) "To test this a third model was made, first with the bulbous forma tion confined to the water line region, the ordinary lines being retained from keel to 0.6 the draft. This model was afterwards given
a bulbous end wholly below the water line, the added displacement
due to the bulb being balanced by a little fining of the lines in the entrance. The prismatic co-eff- cent of the form was 0.71, the entrance load line was straight in the original, the stem vertical.
