The head of the procession hav |ing reached the Yuki Den, a ritual- ist with a ceremonial wand, such as was used in ancient times to cast out impurity and evil, uttered ja warning cry and, to the accom- paniment of ancient music, the Emperor passed from the outer to the inner chamber of the Yukl Den, while the princes, the Grand Chamberlain and the Chief Ritual- ist took up positions in the outer chamber.
Then was performed the Em- peror's ritual of food oblation and Bacramental communion with the gods, the Spirits of the Imperial Ancestors. The two chief female attendants having poured water!
