CHINESE "HSIN CHI" AT TAI ISLAND

Shanghal. Yesterday.

It is reported that the China Merchants S. N. Co.'s 8.3, "Hain Chi." with 200 passengers, was wrecked in a fog on November 9 at Tal daland. The Javo-China-Japan- | |Lijn 8,8. * Thitaroem" is standing by and the passengers are reported to have been taken ashore to the Island. The Captain is remaining on board.-Router.

A Naval wireless message stated that the vessel grounded at Tal Island, near Incog, Light, and that the s.."Tjitarnem" was standing by to rescue the passengers at day, tight.

H.M.S. "Serapis" has proceeded to the assistante of the "Hsin Chi.".

It will be recalled that the "Hsin Chi" was pirated when between Shanghai and Foochow in August, 1927 and taken to Bias Bay, where the pirates took with them the com pradare and one Chinese passenger as hostages.

The "Hsin Chi" is of 1,846 ions

and 1,885 tons net. THE "MONSTER "

The announcement that the new 60,000 ton White Star liner, now under construction at Belfast will be propelled by electricity, made by Lord Kylaant on his return from New York, where he completed plans for the construction of special piers of sufficient length to accom- modate the monster.-Reuter.
