Mrs. Southorn was welcomed by the Rev. J. C. Knight Anstey who remarked on the interest that she had always takon in public affairs and in matters affecting the Ser- vice men. He said that the new Home was nearly finished, and it was hoped to hold the official opening in January next.

The Home, Mr. Anstey added, would be a "real Home" for Ser- vice men.

All of us who have lived in Eastern. ports must realise that Institutes for the entertainment of Service Men are not a luxury, but a necessity. A well run Institute is a nucleus of comfort and a good fellowship which radiates its influence fur- ther than anyone can gauge. It forges links, too, between the Services and the Civilians which are valuable Empire bonds. trust that this Bazaar, into which much thought and tine has been put, will prove a great success, and that all who have been pre vented from attending it will send their contribution towards the $40,000 still needed for the Institute. It is up to all who have homes of their own to ameliorate the limitations of ship and bar- rack life by providing the next Current Accounts opened and Fixed best thing to a home for the Sor- Deposits received for 1 year or shorter
