REDUCTION OF INTEREST

Cumulative efforts to popularise the port of Liverpool by means of improvements, in facilities and re- duction of charges, have been and are being made by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board Ιπ addition to the great works under- taken at the extreme north end of the estate, in the construction of the Gladstone Dock system, and at Birkenhead in the provision of a new entrance lock, they have passed, as has been already re- ported in "The Journal of Com- merce," a scheme for the moderni. sing of the Carrier's Dock, and at meeting they approved a recom- mendation to effect an improvement

Reductions

The Works Committee, at their meeting on August 24, having con- sidered the question of supplying electricity to the Cunard Co. at their appropriated berth at Huskie- gon Dock, it was resolved to re- commend that "subject to certain conditions. the engineer be authorised to lay an electric cuble to the shed at the berth appropriat- ed to the use of the Cunard Steamship Co., Ltd., at the north aide of the Huskisson Branch Dock No. 1."-

On the proposition of Mr. War- ren, seconded by Mr. Beazley, this was, agreed to.
