THE CHINA MAIL,
CARGO DISCHARGE.
JUDGE AND "SHIPOWNERS FACTION.
TOO SOON?
That the steamer discharged her? cargo too soon, and put it in the warehouse of the Bristol Port Au- thority when the consignees would rather have taken it into lighters was the complaint of Messrs. Turner, Volt and Co., Ltd., Bris tal, in bringing an action in the Commercial Court against the Lord Mayor and burgesses of the City: of Bristol, who received the cargo, and the shipowners, the Norwegian Dagbjorg Co., of Oslo, who deli- vered it to them.
+
The Bristol Corporation early dropped out of the action, and the plaintifa sought damages from the shipowners for breach of contract contained in the bill of lading by premature discharge without prior notification to the consignees.
