AQUATIC SPORTS.
DOCKYARD CLUB HOLD THEIR MEETING.
SOME KEEN EVENTS.
In ideal weather, the aquatic aports of the Dockyard Recreation Club were held on Saturday at the "Kowloon Camber, in the presence of a large gathering of members, their families and friends.
There was a splendid exhibition of swimming, particularly in the Club Championship which was won by R. F. Jones after an exciting finish with R. Harvey, and the ladies' handicap race, which Miss M. George wen from scratch, with Mrs. Pengally a length behind in second place.
A. Reeves proved himself a power- ful swimmer by winning the Nott Cup Handicap in convincing style, finishing three lengths in front of F. Faulkner. The Dockyard Derby was a very exciting event, whilst "Mrs. Brown of Portsea" was a great fun maker. "She" was a very graceful figure in her up-to-the- minute Paris creation, but, unfor tunately, she slipped when landing from a boat and discovered to her apparent surprise and arrow that the water was wet.
The Results.
The results were as follow: (1) Club Championship, 100 yards (Members, of D.R.C. only)-1, Jones; 2, Hurvey.
