H.K. FOOTBALL CLUB

FORTY-FIRST ANNUAL

REPORT.

COMMITTEE'S REPORT.

The annual meeting of the Hong Kong Football Club is to be held at 5.30 p.m. on Aug. 31 in the board room of Messrs. Jar- dine, Matheson & Co.'s offices.

The report for the year ended June 30, 1928 states:--

Eighty-eight new members joined the Club during the season, the total membership now being three hundred and sixty four,

The 1st XI of the soccer' sec- tion had a fairly successful sen- son but it is with regret that the Committee have to report that the 2nd XI failed to complete their fixtures.

The Rugby XV:-The pro gramme was necessarily restrict: ed owing to lack of opposition but enough keenness prevailed to promise well for the future and to enable an Interport XI under the auspices of the Club to visit Shanghai and defeat the strong XV there by six points to three. In the shield competition the Army failed to field a side and after a close game the Club was defeated by the Royal Navy.

Annual Dinner.

During the year the following prominent members of the Club left the Colony either on leave or retirement. Mesars. - Hall, Foster, Mc.

Shaw, Hamilton, Tavish and Purves.

During the absence of Hon. Treasurer, Secretary and Hon.

Messrs.

Pryde and Alexander

have kindly filled their respective posts,

The annual dinner was again revived and proved, a very successful function.

The Committee record, with deep regret, the death of Donald C. Logan,

During the year your Com- mittee have engaged in correspon. dence with Government, and by the end of the financial year per- mission had been obtained to erect a semi-permanent Club House, the plans and specifica- tion now being well in hand.

"STAR CHAMBER"?

The business of the meeting has not yet been published, and this On demand also appears strange, for surely 30 day's sight (private "Star Chamber" methods in Hong papor) Kong amateur football will not be welcome,

Although in posession of the agenda for the HKF.A. ineeting on Tuesday next, I am asked not to publish same, although the agenda is of such a formal and, if I may say so, of such an innocuous nature; that I am frankly surpris- ed at the limitatims Imposed.

SPIRIT OF A MOTION, › At the annual general meeting of the H.K.F.A. at which the off- cials for the forthcoming season wero alected, and the accounts, etc., for last season were passed, it was particularly stressed that all mestings of the H.K.F.A. and sub-committees and associations should be freely, reported and published in the local Press, so that all and sundry should see and know immediately all that is be ing done in the Hong Kong Foot- ball world. The Hong Kong Foot-i ball League Counell, in adversely criticising the publication of the agenda of their meeting, are not acting in accordance with the spirit of, this motion, the prime mover of which was Captain A. W. Austin, M.O., MM, R.A.

I am prepared to leave it at that, I have promised not to publish the agends of the forth- coming meeting of the H.K.F.A. | although this agenda is known to
