NO DEATH CERTIFICATE.
An old coolle's death which oc curred at the Tung Wab Hospital last May, over a month after he had been knocked down by a motor car on April 5 near the Pokfulam pump- ing station, and suffered a fracture of the right leg, was the subject of Coroner's inquiry in Mr. R. E. Lindsell's Court at the Central Magistray yesterday afternoon.
The inquiry was for the purpose of determining whether any blame was to be attached to the driver of the car.
Dr. E. W. Kirk, Medical Officer in charge of Native Hospitais, who was the first witness called, said that deccused was admitted, on the Government transfer from
Civil Hospital, into the Tung Wah Hospital on May 11. It was un- derstood that the patient refused Western treatment, electing a her- bal cure by the Chinese method. He was suffering from compound fracture of both bones in the right leg.

Witness suggested, as the only explanation, that the doctor on duty on the day of the patient's arrival did not realise that this was a case of a man who had been transferred from the Government Civil Hospital.
