Brown, of the stock Exchange, talking to Jones fixing a round of golf for Saturday. He has named the course and the hour, and Jones
has said.
"Right-o, old boy."
There the thing should end, but Brown feels this would be abrupt. "I shall motor down. I've still got the old Vermicelli. Good car, but wants docoking.. I think I shall

And so forth.
After ten minutes he finally re- capitulates the whole necessary message. "Right-o, then. Eleven thirty."
Mrs. Williams, occupying the line for fifteen minutes to tell Mrs. Smith she is so sorry she cannot make one at Bridge that evening, is just as bad. She tells the whole of the day's domestle troubles-whis pers something about "Some one- you know who," and "I'll tell you all about it later. Do you know what she did at the Twigson's dance? Oh, perfectly outrageous, my dear!"
From this she strikes the tangent of the dance itself.
Finally she concludes with the full message.
"So sorry I can't come, darling. Better luck next
time."...
Yes, a school for teaching! "Ameu" to telephone usera is a crying need.
Lord Dalziel, as chairman of the Pullman Car Company and president of the International Sleeping Car Co., was known as "The Sleeping Car King," and one of his efforts resulted in the "Blue Train" to the Riviera.
The tribute he paid to Lady Dalziel in leaving her the whole of his vast fortune is one that will be understood by all who knew of the wonderful affection they had for one another.
They were married more than fifty years ago, and Lady Dalziel was a real helpmate to him in all that he did. Every morning she would drive him to the City in her small car and in the evening
she would journey to the City to drive him home.
She nursed him night and day through his last illness.
His death was her second great sorrow. The first one had been shared, for their only child, a girl, died in early life
