THE SINGAPORE FLOATING DOCK-Built for the Admiralty by Messrs. Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson, Ltd., at Wallsend Shipyard, in seven sections, each section being launched separately. The Singapore Dock has a lifting capacity of over 50,000 Lons, 20,000 tons of steel was used and 31⁄2 million rivets. The pumping capacity is 30,000 tons of water per hour, and it will require 70 feet of water to operate in at her destination. Before .commencing the 8,600 miles journey to Singapore in two sections the two end sections will be joined together. When passing through the Suez Canal there will be only a few feet to spare on either side, all traffic on the Canal being held up. It will be the largest structure to have ever crossed the Indian Ocean-(Sport and General).
