"OVERLAND CHINA MAIL"
CHINA NEWS, LOCAL NEWS AND ALL THE NEWS
SEND IT HOME!
Bound for Hong Kong from a neighbouring port and flying the British flag, the 3.5. "Tean" was pirated this week and taken to Bias Bay. En route, the pirates wished to reach Aberdeen, the township on the south of the island, to pick up some fishing boats to complete their scheme; Ultimately, they gave Hong Kong a miss. In the end, they were pursued by a landing party from a British warship. H.M.S. "Somme." and also by parties from a Chinese Customs cruiser led by two foreigners.
These are some of the features in another chapter of the history of the China Seas. The story is reproduced in the "Overland China. Mail” and will make presentable reading in other parts of the world. Do not fail to send a copy away. Doing so will save a good deal of tiresome letter writing.
The departure for North China of the flagship of the commander-in-chief of the China Squadron will arouse intense interest at Home. "Hawkins" has gone, as everybody knows, because of the situation up there. Developments in the. situation, with careful explanations and sidelights, are record- ed in the "Overland."
All the week's local activities are described, including such as the exposure of the "Femina" hoax, Decoration Day observances, the Queen's Regiment memorial dedication, etc.
• WHEN YOU GO ON LEAVE.
Hong Kong's spring exodus has begun. Are you going Home on leave this year? If you are, you will be surprised by the number of persons who will ask you 'about China and Hong Kong. You will be astonished at the number and type of silly questions put to you in all good faith. And you will have to admit reluctantly (if only to yourself) that you are not quite certain. Will you be believed, though? Keep in touch with Hong Kong and China by having the "Overland China Mail" sent to you for a stipulated period.
By spending a little time while you are on holiday, you can keep yourself well informed if you have the "Overland." The articles which you will seek are written to help non- Chinese to understand. In any case, you will not regret, from your own point of view, being posted with the main develop ments (reported in brief) while you are away.

The Professor says in his conclusion that the time will come, when the churches, all the churches, will sanction contracep- tion, it being recognised that this is one of the means by which the life that is, may be mede as magnificent as the postulated life hereafter.

.. Miss Hannah Stone, M.D., of New York, is the last of the writ ers, and her view, is most appro- priate as a finale to what has been said before. Dr. Stone tells us that the U.S.A; birth control move. ment dates back to 1912, that the Inw of America forbids the mailing of anything concerned with con- traception, which makes pro. paganda 'very difficult. The Law is reprinted in extenso, The State even probibits the use of contra- ceptives. Dr. Stone drops into the error of talking at length, without giving any details as to how con traception can be carried out, but she finishes woll by stating that Medicine to-day strives to be pre- ventive rather than curative, and Bcientific Birth Control is one of the nost expressions of preven tive Mediciner ga
