GIANT TORTOISE AT THE ZOOLOGICAL GARDENS, LONDON. The largest tortoise the Zoo has ever had arrives at the menagerie. It is an enormous creature 3 ft. long 2 ft. 6in, wide and 18 in. high, weighing & cwt., and is lucky to be at the Zoo at all, for though a native of Galapagos Islands, South America, it was discovered out- side a restaurant at Valparaiso, Chile, by an Englishman, who subse- quently presented it to the Zoo, London. It is estimated to be 100 years old. (Sport and General):
INDOOR GREYHOUND RACE TRACK-On an electrically worked miniature Greyhound Race Track consisting of a 12 ft, diameter table, the results of Wembley dog racès are being reproduced at the THE LITTLE WELSHMAN.-A Stadium Club, Holborn, London, Models representing the dogs and new photograph of Mr. David hare in appropriate colours worked by concented rods are used, and Lloyd George, ex-Premier in the results are reproduced by electrical synchronisation. AEROPLANÉ BOMBS MOTOR BOAT. — Thrills and hair-raising stunts were provided for the thou- sands who saw the contest between an aeroplane and a motor boat at. the British Motor Boat Club out- board, motor boat racing, at the Welsh Harp, Hendon, The slight craft dashed through clouds of spray almost under the wings of the aero- plane, but the "bomba" (bags of flour) fell wide of the mark.
