THE COMMANDER OF THE

WHOSE WORD IS LAW..
The stage is set for a drama, writes Marjorie Harrison in a "Daily Express" no less inspiring because it la enacted fifteen times every year. The scene is the docks at Southampton. The time about midday. The grey curtain of mist parts and suddenly there looma up the vast outline of a great ship.
Slowly and silently ahe comes. Two tuga fuss ahead of her, other wise there is no sound. No sirens. blowing, or whistles shrilling, no shouting or clamour.
The black hull rises sheer. Here and there a white smudge in its darkness-a face at a
porthole.
Higher still, where the white decks rise one above another like moun-) tain terraces, tiny figures are just discernible at the rails.
A rope is flung down, wriggling and writhing like a live thing. It is caught and made secure. Lilli- putian bands have bound this monster and liputian figures are swarming over her. Then, and
until then,
