The Hague, Yesterday. A demonstration of radio tele- phony between the Hague and Batavia over the week-end was very successful. Voices were readily recognised and there was perfect audibility in both dirce tions. Reuter.

Before Mr. R. E. Lindal at the Central Magistracy this morning, a Chinese named Lai Lol and his male servant were charged with the un- lawful possession of three taels of prepared non-Government opium worth $24 on the Ping On wharf yesterday."
Mr. M. K. Lo, who appeared for the defence, said that Lai Loi was prepared to admit ownership of the oplum. Mr. Lo said that Laf was to have gone to the country on the B.8. "Tal Lee" and a friend who was interested in oplum in Macao made him a present of the three taels for his own consumption. When the servant was found with the opium in his possession, Lal came forward and admitted that he had
