"HOI CHONG" PIRACY.

$70,000 WORTH OF GARGO TAKEN.

COMPRADORE KIDNAPPED.

The Chinese owned s... "Hoi Cheong" (Hong Kong-Wuchow run), reports of the piracy of which on March 9 have already appeared locally, arrived in Hong Kong for the first time since the piracy last night. It appears that the ship was looted of cargo of the value of $70,000 whilst the ship'a compra. dore, Wong Larn, and seven mem- bers of his department were kid- napped.

The scene of the pirates' attack was near Tit Hau kok. Sam Shui district, where Are was opened from the shore and pirates boarded from sampans. Half of the cargo was landed at Tit Hau Kok and later anchor was raised and the ship tuken lower down the river to San Hui where the remaining cargo was taken ashore.
