Now York, Yesterday. Gene Tunney has been admitted na a member of Madison Square Garden Athletic Club, commonly

team will be a hot one, and will start favourites. The Army team has been given as Anderson (K.O.S.B.), Hooper (Queen's); Bunn (Queen's), Everest (K.O.S.B.), Siras (R.A. 11.C.), Carawell (Scots Guards), clation held a meeting on the 20th Larkin (Queen's), McNiven (Scots

Mic. Inst. to make certain arrangements Guards), Pulford (RA), Clinchey (K.O.S.B.), Alexander in connection with the visit of the (K.O.S.B.). This team looks good Hong Kong Interport team during and excepting for the absence of the China New Year period. Leech (R.G.A.) and Carswell out of Chinese Interport team is visiting position, is about the best the army Shanghai from Hong Kong at the could pick,

game time, and the meeting had of necessity to co-ordinate, as far as possible, the matches which will be played by the two visiting teams. The Chinese Interport team from Hong Kong-which is visiting Shanghai under the aegis of the China National Amateur Athletic Federation-will play an Interport rubber of the best of three matches against the local Chinese, while the Hong Kong Football Association team will play one Interport match against a Shanghai Football Asso known as the "Six Hundred Mil- clation team, and such other

lionaires."" matches as are arranged by the S.F.A.

The Navy XII hope to watch closely and if they play up to the recent good impressions created, will be a handful for our Army re- presentatives. This should be a big game, with plenty of good passages and much sport.

The football in the match is be- ing presented by the Hong Kong Football Association and this will bé raffled for during the game, at R very moderate price per chance which should all help to swell the funds of a good cause.

In the football world of Hong Kong, that is to say the Soccer see tion, the great "thought of the day" is the "Hong Kong Interport. XI v. Shanghai." The Hong Kong Selection Committee were going strong, the Probables selected were improving each match and contem- porary critics had the team select- ed down to the eleventh man, when the Navy happened along, and by effecting a draw with our local hopes, quite upset form. This has resulted in the publication of two local footballers who can judge possible teams which must leave "cold," and which at the best is not kely to help the Selection Com- mittee in the slightest. Players for representative matches should not be picked on an individual game, however, brilliant or mediocre that particular display may be. The Interport team should presumably be the best XI in their positions, and if the Selection Committee could go on and pick this XI their task would be easy, but there is one big drawback."

The Committee with a plethora of Service Talent, available are handi- capped. They can only select three Service players to comply with Interport rules. So they have to confine their choice, and several Service players who would certain- ly be in the Team therefore cannot go to Shanghai.

This is how I place our players, having regard to the two facts that we cannot play more than three, Service men; and also owing to the exceptionally fine record of the Athletic this year. On form they demand recognition, as long as our Interport team is representative of the Colony's football: for Shang- hal had four players of the class of Lai Yiu Tong, who I notice was in- cluded in their probable XI recent ly, they would certainly play them.
