In the recent piracy of the B.S. "Ko Chow" which occurred in the Weat River on September 1, 1927, the Chief Engineer, Mr. R. Black, lost his life at the hands of the pirates and as Government is satis fied that the Piracy Regulations were properly observed in this case, It is now proposed to pay to the estate of the deceased officer the aum of $8,520 in accordance with the undertaking quoted above, There is no provision for this in the Estimates and a vote for this sum is therefore requested.
