Translationa of Dr. von Wein- berg's speech at Frankfort-on-Main received by the Department of Overtens Trade from the British Consul-Generals at Frankfort and Cologne discount the importance of the reference to synthetic rubber. Their reports show that Dr. von Weinberg spoke of the production of the elements for synthetic rub- ber gutta pereha.
The "Financial Times" points out that the reports do not men- tion the very difficult problem of obtaining a material which has the present essential physical and mechanical qualities of natural rubber. It adds that the Dye Trust has informed the Dutch I'ress that the experiments are still in the initial stage and as yet it Is not possible to say whether the production of synthetic rubber will become a commercial proposition: -Router.
