The first game, a doubles match in which O. and H. D. Rumjahn played against Lum Po-wah and Ng Sze-kwong was always interesting and the result in doubt until the final point was won. The former pair, it will be remembered, won the Open Doubles Championship for three consecutive years, whilst the records of the two latter players are well-known to local fans.

The fourth sat, which also proved to be the final one, went to Lum at 6-4. Lum played comfortably and secured the first three games. Rumjahn then made a determined effort to pull through but, though he brought the score to 5-4 with the Chinese leading, he could not capture the tenth game as Lum had no difficulty in securing that, and this gave him the match.
The final scores in Lum's favour were:-6-8, 5-7, 6-1, 6-$.
