KEEN COMPETITION.

The eighth bi-annual race for Iship's boats for the "Trevessa" Trophy, presented in recognition 2 of the gallant conduct of the officers and crew of the 8.3. "Trevessa," will be sailed this afternoon. Starting at 4 o'clock from Channel Rock, the boats will! take in their course Kowloon Rock, mark of Yacht Club, Cust Rock Gas Buoy, and finish at the Yacht Club.

As on previous occasions, keen competition may be expect 2ed between the boats of the J.C.JL. and the Douglas Steam- ship Company, who have between them won the trophy each time. In April last the J.C.J.L. won for the third consecutive time in com. petition with their old rivals and many boats of other Lines, in- cluded in which was an entry from the P & O. Transport "Assaye."

In a friendly match between the King's Own Scottish Borderers and the Queen's Royal Regiment played on the Indian Recreation Club ground yesterday afternoon the former won by 39 runs.

Batting first the K.O.S.B. de- clared at 148 runs for 9 wickets, of which Capt. Thorp contributed 40.

Clark took 5 wickets for 43 runs. They then dismissed the Queen's for 109, Lieut. Elliot being Thorp top scorer with 30 runs. did well with the ball, capturing. the first four wickets.
