London, Yesterlay. Prince Henry will open to-mer- row at Ipswich an exhibition of pictures by Gainsborough on the occasion of the bicentenary of the painter's birth. The exhibits have been insured for over half a million sterling. They include 50 masterpieces from galleries at home and private collections in Britain and the United States. There will also be important ex- amples of Rubens, Vandyck, Lely and Wilson-alder masters by whom Gainsborough was greatly |influenced-together with worką by Reynolds, Hoppner, Constable and Cotman, who were his con- temporaries or successors and fell junder his spell.-British Wireless

Tokyo. Yesterday. The French Ambassador, M. Debilly, was the victim of an at- tack by two drunken Japanese while motoring near Kamakura with two officers of the French cruiser "Primoguet."

The Ambassador was not in jured, but the officers were bruis- ed while putting up a fight before the police arrived and arrested the assailants,...
