NOTICE TO MARINERS

TUNGCHOW CHANNEL-i EASTERN ENTRANCE.

Notice is hereby given that on September 21 a new channel at the eastern entrance to the Tungchow Channel, Yangtze River, will be available, giving at present a least through depth of 20 feat at low water of extraordinary spring

tides. The following buoys will be established to mark this new channel:

Mason Buny, painted red and carrying a black diamond daymark, will be placed in a position from which Centaur Beacon will bear S. 644deg. W., distant 4.58 miles. This buoy will mark the eastern side of the entrance to the now! channel.

Branch Buoy, painted black, will be placed in a position from which Centaur Bancon will bear S. 57deg. W., distant 4.6 miles. This buoy will mark the eastern extremity of the shoal on the southern side of the now channel.

and Elbow Buoy, painted red carrying a black spherical daymark, will be placed In a position from which Centaur Beacon will bear S. 30%deg. W.. distant 4.2 miles. This buoy will mark the northern side of the new channel.

Niu Buoy, painted red and carry- ing a black triangular daymark, will be placed in a position from which Centaur Beacon will bear S. Gdex. W.. distant 5.28 miles.. This buoy will mark the northern alde of the new channel.

Straight Buoy, painted red and carrying a black inverted frustrum daymark, will be placed in post- tion from which Centaur Beacon will bear S. 1812deg. E., distant 6.05 miles. This buoy will mark the northern side of the new chan-

nel.

All bearings given are magnetic. Caution. This new channel has just broken through and is in a con- dition of rapid change.
