of Bombay has been seriously exercised over the growing com- petition in foreign trade of the small ports of the Indian States of Kathiawar. The one whose progress has principally alarm- ed the Bombay part authoritica is Bedi Bunder, in Jamnagar State. The Jamsaheb of Na- wanagar (or Jamnagar as it is called) formerly generally "Ranji of cricket fame has dur- ing the past 10 years spent more than £500,000 in improv-; ing his port. The effect of this move has only now begun to bei fully felt. From having a for- eign trade which was next to nothing, Bedi Bunder last year did business to the extent nearly £500,000.
