OPENING CEREMONY BY VICEROY.

Bombay, July 28. Lord and Lady Irwin paid a two-hour visit to Bombay for the purpose of inaugurating the beam wireless system and the Bombay station of the Indian Broadcasting Company.

The Viceroy, accompanied by the Governor of Bombay, performed the former ceremony, in the presence of a distinguished gathering.

Sir Ibrahim Radimtullah, on be- half of the Chairman of the Indian Brandcasting Company, dwelt on the potentialitics of the new ser vice and pointed out that the system was capable of transmitting messages in both directions at a speed in the neighbourhood of 200 words per minute.
