INDIAN POLITICS.

CONGRESS SUPPORTERS DIVIDED.

Relief Centres Established.

Baroda, July 31.

The state authorities have start- ed 12 relief centres, in order to give relief to the distressed. A central organisation will co-ordinate the relief measures.

But for the prompt measures adopted by the authorities in pre- paring rafts and floats and requisi- tioning the help of elephants to effect rescues the casualties would have been much greater.

This may be gauged from the fact that at one place 12 persons were marooned on a housetop and had to remain there, exposed to the violence of the wind and torrential rain, for three days, in spite of the ceaseless efforts of the rescue party.

Eventually four of them
