Transvaal Pioneer.

With the death of Mr. J. Spranger Harrison there has passed another of the Transvaal pioneers. He died at his farm at Bank, between Johannesburg and Potchefstroom. Mr. Harrison leaves behind him in Johannes- burg an everlasting memorial. Harrison Street was named after

him. He was one of the early diggers on the Rand, and could recount many an exciting tale of those adventurous days. --

War Relics..

Busting war relics belonging to Edinburgh, comprising guns pra- sented to the city after the Beer War and the Great War, are to go. A Labour motion was sub- mitted at a Lord Provost's Sub- Committee on June 15 by Coun- cillor Hardie, proposing the removal of all guns, tanks, and similar souvenirs which were pre- sented to the city following the two wars. After discussion, the Sub-Committee agreed to recom- mend that the trophies should be disposed of immediately.
