A Heavy Blow. About 6.30 p.m., the "Leung, Kwong" left Hong Kong for Kongmoon with passengers und cargo. Including the passengers and crew, there may have been anything up to 300 souls on board.

A Captain Wilson is in com- mand, but there are other river skippers of this, nume.

The "Moonshine." running as a ferry between Lin Tin Island and Hong Kong was steaming east! through Capsuimun and the steamboat was going west,

All that is known is that the "Leung Kwong" was across the "Moonshine's" bow, being heavily struck on her starboard bow,

Sank Rapidly.

The impact was such that the "Leung Kwong" made water rapidly and listed, the "Moon- shine" being damaged in her bow.

Captain Wilson made an at- tempt to bench the "Loung Kwong" but the distance and the damage combined to frustratej this.

Very soon the "Leung Kwong" was sinking, passengers were in the water and the "Moonshine" had gone alongside to do what she could.

Captain Wilson was picked up some of the passengers. by the "Moonshine" together with The Moonshine" came on to Hong Kong and made a brief report.

No news is at present available about the chief officer or the chief engineer.

Other Steamers Help.

Two other Hong Kong-Kong- moon steamboats were near the "Leung Kwong" when the collis- ion occurred. They had left Hong Kong at about the same tirae.

The s.8. "On Lee" saved a fair- ly large number of people with her lifeboats and buoys and the "Kwong Fook Cheong" also

rescued a number.

After doing all they could, their voyage to Kongmoon. They these two steamers continued on

are due back late to-night when further news will be available.

The "Leung Kwong" sank in Buch deep water that only a foot of her funnel was showing to- day.
