They weighed in this afternoon as follows:-Baldock 117 lbs. 11 oz., Bell 117 lbs. 1% oz.

Both were announced to be very fit and very conßdeat of victory.

How They Fought,

It was a splendid fight through out, both men showing great_elever -hess in attack-and defence,"

Baldock, who was fighting in orthodox style, sent in beautiful straight lefts followed up by flash- ing rights to the head. He varied his attack with right feads to the head and body,

Bell did well with blows to the stomach and with hooks but at the end of half a dozen rounds, the Englishman was ahend an points and continued to do rather better than his opponent until the four- teenth round when the American attacked furiously and bombarded Baldock with lefts and rights,

The latter, however, made good use of the ring. He swayed and qucked skilfully and survived these Onslaughts,

In the last round Bell rushed in

and tried his hardest to butter down the defence but Baldork fought back magnificently, a glorious struggle ending amid an amazing scene of excitement.-Reuter.

BOXING.

V.R.C. AMATEUR NOVICES' TOURNEY.

SECOND NIGHT'S BOUTS,

Better boxing was seen at the V.R.C. last evening when the second round and semi-finals in Amateur Novices Tournament were decided.

There were thirty-one bouts on the programme, which had to be divided into two sessions. There were three walk-overs and one knock-out in the first session, while in the second session three competitors scratched and two were disposed of by the knock- out.

Competitors from St. Joseph's College who did not figure on the first night's programme and were therefore still eligible, entered the ring last night and generally gave a good account of themselves.

The finals will be decided on Saturday commencing at 9 p.m. when, there will also be a special the10 round bout.
