MALAYA'S CRICKET "JOSS” &· HONG KONG.
AUSTRALIA'S TEST GIANTS,
Although no public reference has been made to the possibilities of the Australian Test match cricke- ters extending their tour in Malaya to Hong Kong, the subject has been under consideration.
Many would welcome a display by such giants of the game and be prepared to pay handsomely for the privilege, but at this, time of the y'enr, conditions are entirely against the idea.
First of all, nearly every cricket ground in the Colony will be "closed" by the time the Australians rench Singapore. or lawn tennis will have pride of place.
On the Hong Kong Cricket Club ground, re-turfing will be in pro- gress, taking advantage of the rains to bring the grass along. Such re turfing cannot be delayed as the ground has to be reopened by Sep- tember for the next cricket season.
Hot Weather v. Practice, Then, again, in the hot weather, it will he exceedingly difficult, if not impossible, to get together a really representative eleven worthy of such an occasion.
Not only will facilities be lack- ing, but not everybody will be ready to practise consistently. That "end of the season" feeling is not over and practice all the more difficult when one is stale.
The above, however, indicates that the enl authorities of the game are not indifferent,
Hong Kong would make a very. strenuous effort to bring such a visit about if only to show that cricketers here are hospitable and very keen.
