New Type Planes" Great Flight.

IMPORTANT AIR CONFERENCE.

Rugby, April 21.

Four aeroplanes under the com- mand of Commodore Samson have arrived at Capetown, having com- pleted the flight from Cairo with- out hitch.

The machines are of an entire- ly new type not yet generally in- troduced in the Air Force and nre fitted with Napier Lion en- gines.

Commodore Samson states that they behaved splendidly every inch of the way. The only mishap was a punctured tyre at Abercorn.

The machines flew over the Hex River mountains at a height of eleven thousand feet.

Empire Strategy.

At Kisuma, in Kenya, they were joined by four machines of the South African Air Force withi which they carried out numerous combined exercises in co-opera- tion with the ground troops,

London, April 21. "Like nothing ever beard" is the description given to the "sound" of a face transmitted from London to New York by Mr. J. L. Baird, who has invented the televisor.
