New York, Feb. 17. Charles A. Dean, Chairman of the Athletic Committee of the Illinois A. C., filed a claim with A. A. U. officials here for an American re- eord on behalf of Johnny Weiss- muller, who in Chicago was credit- ed with having swum 100 yarda in 49:4/5 seconds

The fent, which was made in a 20-yard pool and is the fastest "een- tury" ever covered by a swimmer in any type of pool, was timed by six individuals, according to Dean, three of whom "clocked the noted swimmer in 49.4/5 seconds and the other three in 19:3/6.
