For this they are indebted to a stand by Evers and Bridgland and a fine innings by Morris who gave one chance in his 76. Beattie bowled well but had little support. and Cantrell had an off day. The Rev. Venn kept wicket beautiful- ly to Beattie's fast, bumpy bowl. ing.

Captain Dobbie was again a destructive factor. He took 9 of the Naval wickets for 42 runs in: 17 overs. With a cross wind. he was almost unplayable.

Cantrell recovered his form in the Army's second knock and Beattie bowled his expresses un tiringly.
