The natives of Sai-chiu residing was well armed with machine-in Canton, called a meeting at which they decided to request the Canton Government to send troops to suppress the bandits, or to send gunboats to protect the rice junks, states the "Canton Gazette."

The robbers were defeated, and over twenty of them were killed on the spot. Among them, it is reported, waa Wa Tsuyu ("Wry Mouth" Yu), the notorious chief of the robbers.
