Further details about the piracy of the es "Hol Nam" (from Shanmei to Canton) this week. have reached the "China Mail."

Investigations made on arrival- at Canton, revealed the fact that one of the mail bags had been,slit opon by the pirates, and the con- tents had been tampered with.

The attack was launched after a short stop near Ma Kang, where # few passengers and a little cargo were taken on board.

Fractically the whole of the ship's cargo was removed at Bias Bay, together with personal effects, property, etc.

The total loot is estimated at about $80,000. A tenth of the amount was made' up by money and property in the custody of the compradore, but cargo com- prised the majority.
