SHIP ENGINEERS REPAIR DAMAGE.

"PHRANANG" REPORT.

Owing to a light breakdown in the engine room, the Chinese ss. "Phranang" arrived late (yester. day afternoon) from Tourane and Quinhon.

The report of Captain H. C. Keddle to the Harbour Office stated. Five degrees South and 40 degrees West of Green Island, machinery damaged so that ship could not proceed to part. So discharged live stock"

The local agents state that the damage was very slight.

The "Phranang" arrived off Cheung, Chau on Sunday night when something went wrong in the engine-room which caused a break-down. The ship was, there fore, unable to proceed further. It appears that the engineers managed to effect the necessary repairs to enable the steamer to reach Hongkong and proceed to her usual wharf at West Point.
