The theory of my sentence is about this." Judge O'Bunne saldı "That all of these defendants are but the product of a journalistie system which looks upon its con- ception of duty to its employer jend its reading public as above the law.

The person highest in authority in this jurisdiction to whom the trial er personal responsibility ax far as disponed by the verard in this case Pads, is Me. Harold Elliston menging editon of ho Baltimore News, one of the Hearst newspapers in this community. They are but the product of, a system.

"As the dignified thirs of the legal forum were shifted to the com- merce of the street for the benefit on the Menrat International · Reek corporation, with its world-wide distribution. it may not be tou much to expect that the system and the wylicyte of which, be ta but a local operator will pay the fine, and in that way commercial- ism will be, gobbed of its chief in- centive to make 'proit out of the administration of justice in defiance of the orders of the court."

Praises Frankness..

Judge O'Dunne added that testi- mony or all defendants had been "characterised by the Futmost frankness and, candour." and "the profession of journalism might pint with pride to this fast if i could be thought that it was due to habit begotten of long journalis- tic training. Personally, I must) attribute. it to their own integrity rather than to habit formed by their professional careers.

"Courty must view with alarm the journalistic morals which find expression through Mr. Elliston, great the managing editor of a paper, that his duty to his readers and to his employer comes aboad of his duty to the courts of the land-without the protection of which the acquisition of wealth is insecure," he said.

HAROLD LLOYD IN "HOT WATER."

The ever popular Harold Lloyd will be the principal star to-day, to-morrow, and Saturday at the Star. Theatre, but in addition Alm in "The Courage of Marge there will be a strong adventure

AT THE QUEEN'S.

P. AND P. IN HOLLYWOOD,

As previously announced, this film, dealing with the adventures of the merry Jewish clock and suit merchants, making their initial venture into the Aim pro- during business, is to be shown at the Queen's Theatre from to- day till Saturday.

These two lovable characters," created by Montague Glass in five stage plays and numerous short stories, are the central figures to the film. They are seen for the first time in their busy career as movie magnates, having abandon- fed the cloak and suit business temporarily, and one of their Initial efforts, as pictured in this comedy. is a story of ancient Rome. The partners agreed, when they were about to film a [Christian martyr scene, that it was unnecessary to secure real

ions when there were such per-1 fect on skins for rent in coe- tumie shops and such perfectly ne movie extras willing to get inside them at reasonable rates.

As a result a very shaggy and disjointed lion made his appear ance in this picture within a pic- ture. The scene was progressing: excellently until one of the famous Potash and Perlmutter arguments started. Then and here the "lion" succumbed and instead of a roar á raucus laugh was heard. Of course a laugh does not register with a moving picture camera. but the unusual sound was enough to throw the other players out of the spirit of urlesque and the scene, had to be taken over.

Alexander Carr as Perlmutter and George Sidney as Potash were the two screen stars who claim the record of being the first ever to make a lion laugh. The other principals in "In Hollywood with Potash and Perlmutter" are Betty Blythe, Vera Gordon and David Butter.

It is excellent entertainment all the way.
