The Peking "Yi Shih Pao" re- porta a message from the Minis- try of Foreign Affairs in regard to the loss of property by Ameri- cans in Kiangsi province during civil warfare in China. The United States had requested, the Chinese Government to appoint į some persons who together with the American appointees might investigate the case.

The Tupan and Civil Governor of Kiangsi, however, claim that there is and has been no war in the province, and therefore there can have been no loss on the part of foreigners. They object, there- fore, to an investigation.
