Birmingham, June 3. There had been rain during the night, but it was fine when the match between the Australians and the North of England was resumed to-day.

The wicket was softish, and there was a fair gathering present.

Sutellife and Holmes resumed the North of England innings.

With the addition of 14 runs to 51the overnight score of 40, Sutcliffe 28 suffered from a slight strain in the 43leg and retired to be massaged.

Suteliffe had to retire with his 40 score at 35.
