[BY PATROL."],

Overshadowing all else in the second day's races of the Jockey Club's annual meeting was the Hongkong Day the blue ribbon of the local turf.

If anything, the ruin botween yesterday and noon to-day had had the effect of making the going slightly heavier, but not to an extent which would "upset the form already shown.

Although the favourite did not win, a great cheer went up when St Paul Chater added another Berby, to his long list of successes. It was a splendid race with a ding- dung fish

When the frût race wys about to:! start. the crowd seemed bigger than for the corresponding: hour of the day before. This in spite of there being no sun. peeping out from behind the cloads. Shortly atter closing hours in town, the attendance increased rapidly. In the public enclosure there was always, a stampede for the paying "tote" counter when, a favourite came in. Li
