H.K.H.C. DEFEAT.

NAVY WIN BY THREE TO ONE.

YESTERDAY'S MATCH.

JIM CARTLIDGE AND THE H.K.B.A.

CORRESPONDENT'S REPLY,

The Hongkong Hockey Chub 1st (To the Editor of the China Mail)

XL were beaten by the Navy on the

US.RA.. ground yesterday by three goals to one.

The teams were as under Club:-P W. F. Mills; D. H. Sherman, A. P. T. Farquharson: A, S. Hett, E. J. R. Mitchell Capt.) Rev. E. W. L. Martin; H. Owen Hughes, B. D. Evans, W. Woodward. A. Dyer Ball, G. R. Vallack.

Navy Lt. Garwood; Lt. Wau- chope, Sub.-Lt. Halsey: Et..Com. Hutton, Lt. Simpson (Capt.). Lt. Broome: Lt. Phillips, Lt. Nichol- son, Lt. Hill, Le Sillitoe R.M., Pay Sub-Lt. Wilson.

On the whole the game proved quite interesting to the few spectators who were given an opportunity of witnessing some pretty combined movements of the forward on both sides.

The Club forward line, how. ever, had not that understanding possessed by the opposing attack, and their shooting lacked accur- acy as many of their efforts ended on the lines, and only once during the game was the Navy custodian really called upon to save one heading home..

names:

Without mentioning each individual forward on the Navy side played with the per- fection that wins the game, name- ly. passing when hard presved, and it was this perfect under- standing that enabled Sitoe to receive three times and find the nes with deadly accuracy.

Within fifteen minutes of the start the Navy had scored two goals. This put the Club men on their mettle, and they made a vigorous attack, the Navy cus todian coming into the picture by saving in fine style. Play fluctu- ated a good deal and half time: arrived with no further change in the score.

After the resumption, a pretty movement by the Navy brought the ball near the goal. Hill pass- ed to Sillitoe, who scored the third point with a beautiful shot.. On the other side a cross shot went wide, and the Club cording again missed an opportunity, an- other soon after going wide.

The Navy right back had to bear the most of the attack, and

London, Nov. 26. League football matches player the Hongkong Boxing Associa-to-day (all first division, home tion. Jim Cartlidge challenged team given first) resulted:- through the medium of the Press,

Sir,-Stoker Morris made hia challenge to Cartlidge through|

it not obvious that to be signed up Cartlidge should approach the H.K.B.A. instead of waiting for overtures 7

On the face of things the hitch. seems to lie in any one of threo": parties waiting to be addressed." If the mountain will not come, etc., etc., then (I suggest) Carl- lidge write direct to the H.K.B.A.

My only concern is that two,, men who have proved their worth are brought together. May the better man win and may there bu full house when the fight doey come off.
