TEST THOUGHTS.

While it is not possible to re- gard a September festival fixture as a Test trial match, the pre-: as Carr, i sence of such players MacBryan, Allen, Stevens, and Macaulay in the team to meet "Gilligan's men" renders the game of exceptional interest.

No doubt the touring team will be anxious to avoid the indignity scratch of being beaten by a

eleven representative of the men who stayed at home. Something startling must arise among the individual performances, how- ever, if the game is to have any bearing on selections for the Tests of 1926.

It will be seen that the name of .K. S. Duleepsinhji is included in the list of amateurs for the open- ing match with the Players, but that the cultured batsman of Cambridge will play no further part in the festival. His appear- ance against the bowlers of the last Australian tour would have welcomed, for his batting has been sufficiently impressive to auggest that he is a candidate for inclusion in the Tests of next year, and the match would have brought him useful and needed experience.

PLAYERS FOR BLACKPOOL. *Two further festivals call cricketers during the early days of 'September.

At Folkestone, from September 2-8, the Royal Air Force pro- gramme will proceed, and at Blackpool there are two ixtures down for decision. We under- stand that Richard Tyldesley will play for Lancashire against Eng- land on September 5, 7, 8 at the Blackpool

which enclosure, means, of course, that he will not be in the team, of tourists captain- ed by Arthur Gilligan at Scar-1 borough. Duleepsinhji will also take part in the second match of the festival between North and South..

ever, Mr. Holdman is confident of the ability of last year's premiers to follow suit this season, thanks to a careful infusion of new and old blood. The

list is Axture follows:-

There is a promise of good cricket in the programme, the, players to take part including the following:-

T. W. Burgess, who swam from Dover to Cape Gris Nez on September 5-6, 1911, in 28 hours 40 minutes, expresses the opinion that Miss Harrison failed because she is a vegetarian.

A vegetarian, he declares, will never swim the Channel.

At the conclusion of the game the shield was presented to the South China A.A. by Lieut. Col. LG. Bird, who congratulated them on their meritorious win.
