features of the memorable rising. Lochaber, as they knew, was the cradle, the heart, and the grave of the '45. It was at Loch- nanuagh that Prince Charlie had landed. It was at Glenfinnan that he first raised his standard, and it was from Lochaber that he recruited his original army. was to Lochaber that the Prince returned after the disaster at Culloden, and it was from Loch- nanuagh that he again finally departed to France, after those perilous and romantic wanderings throughout the Western High- lands and Islands. Every nook in Lochaber spoke to them of those stirring days. At (Lochiel's) own home at Achna- carry, the beeches which an ancestor of his had dug in, as he thought, temporarily, when he' left to join the. Prince could be seen from his dining-room, whilst Loch Arkaig and Glen Fean could boast of many memories of the Young Chevalier. They all knew the Prince's association with the House of Moy, and it was emin ently fitting that The Mackintosh should open their exhibition.

Speaking from the steps of the Museum building... which situated in Cameron Square, and where a large assemblage had kathered, The Mackintosh said he wished to support the efforts being made to bring back to them reminiscences of the '15 and the '45. In those far-off days they were called rebels, and in a sense they were still rebels at heart, but on an occasion like the present he thought they might fairly let themselves go..
