THREE MATCHES DURING WEEK-END.
In the earlier of the two games on the Happy Valley diamond on Saturday afternoon, the Japanese started the pace by gaining five runs in the first inning, and, after being blanked in the next two, finished with a total of 16 runs. Their opponents, the Indians, scored a total of five runs in only two innings, and were thus beuten by 11 points.
The second game uttracted a large number of spectators and proved interesting. The Volun- Heers batted first, and were blanked in the first four innings. Proulx opened the score for the Baseball Club by crossing the plate in the second inning, which brought in a further two runs. The same player looked danger- ous in the next inning, but was smartly despatched by Bowker at second base. Dome, with a fly, to right, did a complete circuit in the fourth inning, and his side atill further increased their lead on an error. Apparently the Ameri- cans were out for more runs, but were dismissed by Owen Hughes, who brought off a fine catch.
