Mr. W. Thorne (Lab.-Soc., Plaistow) They went there to spy.

Miss wilkinson: Is it the policy of the Government to exercise surveillance over their political opponents?

No.

Sir W. Joynson-Hicks: Had I known the hon. lady and her friends were dining there these police officers would not have been allowed to go, and they will not be allowed to go.

Mian Wilkinson: Thank you.. Captain Brass (U., Clitheroe) asked if this was not a Russian restaurant.

Mr. Short (Lab.-Soc., Wednes- bury): A Ministerialist member has spoken on the supposition] that this is a Russian restaurant. It is well understood that all ques- tions put in this House should be founded on sound information: The statement is likely to do Italian injury, as this is an restaurant.

The Speaker: I cannot say I have even been there. (Laugh- ter.) I must deprecate hon. members putting questions which are likely to damage other per Bons ΟΣ countries. (Socialist cries of "Withdraw.")
