- An unfortunate accident which i occurred during training at the Singapore Racecourse resulted in the horse Hajat, owned by the Fu'ten of Perak, having to be des troyed, while the same fate, is ordered for Lady Illabo, a maiden not entered for the meeting.
Lady Illabo, ridden by Tesnear, was frightened. by Chinese womanlopening an umbrella and swerved, with the result that Hajst (ridden by Glennon), which was coming up fast just behind, crashed | Into her. Both jockeys were thrown and badly shaken, while Tesnear was also kicked and sustained a smashed nose but was not hurt so seriously as to prevent him riding at the meeting....
Hajat was found to have suffered a broken back and had to be shot. A post mortem " showed that the spine was broken in three places: Lady labo also injured her back, and veterinary examination later in the morning showed that she has to be destroyed as well.
