YEAR'S BRAVEST DEED

For the bravest deed of 1024

| George Inghơm, aged 25, of Cohen Street, Miles Platting, Manchester, was, at the annual meeting of the Royal Humane Society, held in London, awarded the Stanhope gold medal. It recorded that he displayed, exceptional heroism in attempting to rescue Alfred Bram-·| ford, a comrade aged 16, who, while at work at a dye works at Smedley Bridge, was overcome by fumes. First of all Ingham rescued & colleague named Marriott from a kler (a perpendicular boiler pine feet deep used for boiling cotton (cloth). Then he attempted to rescue Bramford, but was forced to give up because of the fumes.
