"A magnificent gift from the Orient in the form of a silk. Per sian rug reproducing one of his most famous cartoons has just Bean received by George McManus, creator of "Bringing Up Father" as a Christmas present from Adil Ahmad Khan, a Persian noble and art connoisseur..

The rug is a reproduction of a magazine cover drawn by Ms. Mc- Manus in 1922, and is one of the most unusual specimens of ro weaving ever made in the Orient. It is of silk, about six feet long

by five feet wide, and was woven at the order of Ahmad Khan by the celebrated Abdul Hamid Keshany whose looms in Keshan have for 30 years produced the famous Kazansha silk rugs which are the envy of collectors, of modern Persian ruga everywhere

The Biggs and Maggie rug was aent to Mr McManus in token of a friendship between him and its dener which had its origin six years ago through a fugitive copx of the China, Press which found Its way to Teheran, the capital of Persia with a camel caravan which had been sent with a con- signment of art objects from Shanghai. The background of the picture is a special tribute to Mrs. McManus's knowledge and fine taste for it was she who suggested to her husband the scheme of rtle, hill and forest which make up its composition.
