Nevertheless there was plenty of interest in the racing. Now and then the favourite would¦·· romp home but the number of "upsets" should have compensated those who were averse to going by form. Several ponies enhanced their reputations by showing that they could win on a wet as well na a dry course but others showed a distinct dislike for the mud. If Janything, the going was both wet and slippery in places, rather than really holding. Grey Morn's mile in the Aggregate Stakes "was

This race was productive of a rodeo stunt. Credit must be given to Mr. Rock (manager of the Jockey Club Stables) for mak- ing Beauty Dahlia—a pony which had thrown at least one rider off its back in training-submit to treatment" Accompanied, by an amah, Mr. da ‘Roza, rode the pony quietly along to the starting post. A false start and Mr. da Roza was unseated in trying to pull Beauty Dahlia up. The pony then gulloped away towards the entrance where, to avoid a num- ber of mafoos, he jumped over the rails twice. The amah then came along and the riderless pony meekly followed him back to the stable.. Mr. da Roza escapad with a shaking.

Grey Streak led into the straight. Gimlet, on rounding the rails and making up ground, slipped at the turn.and fell into: the inner track. Fortunately, 'his rider (Lt.Com. Thompson) was not hurt.

Saracen won second place in the last hundred yards or so.

Gypsy Love not winning, Pollock 6-BROCKLESBY who had the mount on Rothesay,

made his effort at the distance post and Won a clever race. Blotting Paper, all out, could not catch up with the leaders. The betting on this race was very open.
