THE HOBO HAT,
MUCH TRAVELLED CHAPEAU COMING.
"When the Dollar liner President Adams" arrives here on March 2 on her fourth trip, round the world there will be on board a strange globe trotter. The passenger" is an old American straw hat which was started on a haphazard tour of the world from Wilkesbarre, Pa., U.S.A., in 1922 and has already made three complete voyages.
Captain Robert Dollar discover ed the hat as a stowaway on one of his liners and is sending it back. by special messenger round the world to its unknow. owner.
Since it started globe trotting nearly three years ago the bat has traveled more than 100,000 miles on three rilroad systems in the United States, five different ocean, liners on the seven seas and has been in 12 foreign, contries in five continents. It is now circum- navigating the globe for the fourth time.
The hat which has had fame thrust upon it, began its career of travel at the station of the Delaware and Hudson railroad at Wilkes Barre on September 12, 1922 freight handler, who was about to throw the old straw hat away at the end of the summer, season, changed his mind and started it on a tour of the world It was christened" Mr. Hobo Hat" with a tag which read: "Bound for a trip around the world. Please keep me going."

Play yesterday was very fast and of a high order seldom equalled in Hongkong, All along the Club half-back line was predominant, and it was this superiority which Won the match. Captain Hayes- Newington, the crack Army for ward, was well-watched and only had two shots at goal to the whole match. Had it not been,
for the excellent, showing of the Amy goalkeeper the score might have been even higher. "A shot from Mitchell after a comer appeared a certain goal but Lacey saved. He also got to a splendid shot from Evans on the near, side of the goal and saved.

With cheers from the railroad: workers it was tossed into the baggage car of the first train that happened long. It changed cars to the New at Springfield, Mass York Central Railroad and was carried to New York and then to Chicago. A messenger carried it across Chicago to the Santa Fe Railroad for the journey to the Pacific Quist. It arrived at Sanj Francisco on January 24, 1923, and was put on board the Matson liner Matsonia bound for Honolulu. The 1nited American, liner Resolute, which was then on alspecial world cruise, picked up " Mr. Hobo Hat" at Honolulu and landed him at Yokohama. Then the Pacific Mail liner President Lincoln had the hat. as a passenger" to Hongkong, where it arrived on February 22, 1923-
Mr. E. F. O'Connor, agent for the Admiral Oriental and Dollar Round-the-World Lines, took care of the traveller until the arrival of the President Hayes of the Dollar Line, on its first voyage round the world In March 1924. the hat again started on its travels and go last aboard the President Hayes for two trips round the world.) It was discovered a stowaway by the purser when the" President Hayes arrived at San Franciscoon January
1, 1925.
When told, of the har's travels Captain Dollar ordered a special hatbox made for it. He commis sioned the 10-year-old Chinese biscuit boy, on the President Adams to carry the hat round the world again with instructions to find its owner in Wilkes Barre and deliver it to him with the shipping magnate's compliments
En route the hat will be decorat- end with official signatures of the heads of the governments of the countries touched by the round- the-world-service of the Dollar Line and will be vised by President Coolidge at Washington after the President Adams reaches New York next April: The mayors of four American cities "and other government officials throughout the world will give the hat a welcome on its farewell tour of the globe.
